Man arrested in connection with starting LA fire that is now burning over 960 acres

Posted on January 14, 2025 By admin

The wildfires ravaging California, including parts of Los Angeles, are a combination

of several blazes: the Palisades Fire, Eaton Fire, Kenneth Fire, Hurst Fire, and Lidia Fire.

These fires have claimed at least 10 lives, destroyed over 10,000 buildings, and forced

thousands to evacuate, leaving many homes in ruins. Strong winds have fueled the rapid

spread of the flames, with LA Mayor Karen Bass warning, “We are expecting this fire to rapidly spread due to high winds.”

The Kenneth Fire started near West Hills in the San Fernando Valley, close to Ventura

County, and burned within two miles of a school housing evacuees from the Palisades Fire.

This blaze has added to the destruction of celebrity neighborhoods and forced mass

evacuations, with gridlocked roads forcing some to flee on foot.

Authorities suspect the Kenneth Fire was intentionally set. LAPD arrested a man believed

to have started the fire, reportedly seen using a blowtorch to ignite bins and Christmas

trees. Local residents detained him until police arrived.

Efforts to contain the fires are ongoing, with bulldozers clearing roads and off-duty

firefighters called in to assist. While some progress has been made, the situation remains critical as high winds continue to spread the flames.
