It’s possible to freeze milk—were you aware of that?

Posted on August 6, 2025 By admin

Struggling to Keep Milk from Going to Waste?

My family never guesses milk right—some weeks we run out in two days, others we toss a full jug. But I found a fix: freeze it!

How to Freeze Milk (Without a Mess):
Pour out 1 cup from a full plastic gallon—milk expands when frozen and can burst if too full.

Storage Options:

Freeze the whole jug.

Or pour into ice cube trays for small portions.

Important: Only use plastic. Glass can crack in the freezer.

How Long Does It Last?
Frozen milk keeps for up to 3 months.

To Thaw:

Place in the fridge for 24 hours.

Or submerge in cold water to thaw in 30 minutes.

Why It’s a Game-Changer:
I used to toss expired milk or make emergency store runs. Now I freeze extras during sales,

preserve leftovers before trips, and keep cubes for coffee or recipes.

Give It a Try!
If your milk usage is unpredictable like mine, freezing milk is the perfect hack. It saves money, guilt, and time.

Now if only I could figure out how fast we go through cereal…
