Authorities Continue Search for Missing Tucson Woman Nancy Guthrie

Authorities Continue Search for Missing Tucson Woman Nancy Guthrie

Posted on June 23, 2026 By admin

Investigators in Tucson are continuing their efforts to determine what happened to 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, whose disappearance has prompted an extensive investigation involving local authorities, federal agencies, and specialized search teams. Officials have confirmed that family members, including her son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, have cooperated with investigators and participated in interviews as part of standard procedures used in major missing-person cases. Authorities have emphasized that Cioni has not been arrested and is not facing any charges while the investigation remains active.

According to law enforcement, Nancy was last seen on the evening of January 31, 2026, after having dinner with her daughter, Annie Guthrie, and Cioni. Reports indicate that she was driven home later that evening and was observed entering her residence safely. Concern grew when she failed to attend church services the next day and family members were unable to contact her. Deputies responding to the home reportedly discovered circumstances that led investigators to intensify the search and pursue additional forensic analysis.

Authorities later disclosed that a security camera system at the residence had been disconnected and that blood discovered near the front entrance was confirmed through testing to belong to Nancy. Investigators also cited digital information indicating that communication from her pacemaker unexpectedly ceased shortly after 2:00 a.m. on February 1. These findings prompted officials to classify the matter as a suspected abduction investigation. The case has since involved assistance from the FBI, forensic specialists, and numerous search resources operating throughout the area.

The investigation has also been complicated by fraudulent ransom messages that authorities determined were unrelated to Nancy’s disappearance. An individual accused of sending those communications has reportedly been arrested on separate charges. Meanwhile, search efforts continue in the Catalina Foothills with support from K-9 teams, drones, aerial surveillance, and ground crews. Officials remain committed to finding answers and are urging anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact law enforcement. As the search continues, family members and the community remain hopeful that new evidence will help bring clarity to the case and lead to Nancy Guthrie’s safe recovery.
