The Fifth Heart in Our Home<\/p>\n

One evening, we playfully asked our 2.5-year-old daughter, \u201cHow many people live in our house?\u201d Expecting her to say four\u2014my husband,<\/p>\n

me, her baby brother, and herself\u2014we were surprised when she confidently answered, \u201cFive.\u201d At first,<\/p>\n

we laughed, assuming she meant the cat. But she shook her head and pointed toward the hallway.<\/p>\n

\u201cWho else, sweetheart?\u201d I asked. She whispered, \u201cThe nice lady. She sings to me when I can\u2019t sleep.\u201d The words left us silent.<\/p>\n

Children often invent imaginary friends, we reminded ourselves. Still, I couldn\u2019t stop thinking about it\u2014especially<\/p>\n

when I later heard her softly humming a lullaby from my own childhood.<\/p>\n

It was the very song my late grandmother used to sing to me, a tune I had never shared with my daughter.<\/p>\n

The coincidence felt impossible to dismiss. Whether it was imagination, memory, or something more, the moment deeply moved me.<\/p>\n

That night, as I tucked her in, I realized family isn\u2019t only those physically present. Love lingers and carries forward in mysterious ways.<\/p>\n

Perhaps my daughter was right\u2014there are indeed five hearts in our home, bound together by connection that transcends time.<\/p>\n
