When Mel Gibson flew to Austin, Texas, to record the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, he didn\u2019t know he would never return home to the house he lived in for the past 15 years.<\/p>\n
The BBC reports that while he was in Austin, the Palisades fire broke out and flames not only threatened his home but completely burnt it to the ground. Thankfully, his girlfriend, Rosalind Ross, and his 7-year-old son, Lars Gerard Gibson, evacuated and made it out safely.<\/p>\n
During the podcast, Gibson\u2019s home was still standing, but he wasn\u2019t too optimistic that it would be there when he returned. He told Rogan that his neighborhood was \u201con fire.\u201d He also pointed blame at California Governor Gavin Newsom saying he \u201cdidn\u2019t do anything.\u201d He said, \u201cI think all our tax dollars probably went for Gavin\u2019s hair gel.\u201d<\/p>\n
When Gibson returned to California, he found out that his home was completely gone. He told NewsNation\u2019s \u201cElizabeth Vargas Reports,\u201dI thought, \u2018Eh, I wonder if my place is still there.\u2019 When I got home, sure enough, it wasn\u2019t there.\u201d<\/p>\n
While Gibson is grateful that his family is safe, he still finds the loss quite \u201cemotional.\u201d He explained, \u201cI had my stuff there. I\u2019ve been relieved from the burden of my stuff because it\u2019s all in cinders.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gibson described his neighborhood as \u201ccompletely toasted.\u201d He said, \u201cI\u2019ve never seen such a complete burn.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gibson is far from the only celebrity who has lost his home in the California wildfires. Gibson shared that he believes his neighbor, actor Ed Harris, also lost his home. In addition, Paris Hilton and Billy Crystal\u2019s homes are also gone.<\/p>\n
