<\/p>\nWhen Frances was just 16 years old, she used to work at a local cafe in Waynesboro, Georgia.<\/p>\n
The beautiful young lady must have had many admirers, but one couldn\u2019t take his eyes off of her. It was Herbert Delaigle.
\nThe 22-year-old man fell in love with her, and it took him some time to find the courage and the right words to ask her out one day.<\/p>\n

But since he did, they had always been together.<\/p>\n
A year after their first date at the movies, Herbert asked the big question.<\/p>\n
\u201cI asked her will she have me as her husband and she said, \u2018Of course,\u2019\u201d he told CBS affiliate WRDW in 2018, when they celebrated 70 years of marriage.<\/p>\n
And, although Frances was eager to marry the love of her life, she was nervous about the big day because she knew Herbert was always late.
\nIndeed, the preacher almost refused to marry them. It took some convincing, but he ended up speeding up the service.<\/p>\n
As for how much their wedding cost? Well, it was as low-budget as one can imagine.<\/p>\n
\u201c$5 is all I paid for her,\u201d Herbert said at the time.<\/p>\n
The couple led a happy life, they had six children, and they never stopped sharing happy moments and laughs. You see, even after seventy years, Herbert still found ways to make his beloved wife laugh.<\/p>\n
At 93 years old in 2019, Frances said he still found ways to crack jokes.<\/p>\n
But what she loved most about him was his kind and loving personality.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was always loving and patient and good hearted,\u201d she said, with him adding: \u201cI never would have dreamed that we would\u2019ve got this far and I hope we go a few more years on that.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sadly, one year after they celebrated their platinum anniversary, they both passed away.<\/p>\n

In July 2019 Herbert\u2019s heart stopped, and exactly 12 hours later (to the minute), Frances passed away, too. It\u2019s as if they had arranged to meet up in Heaven and Herbert left first because he knew he would be late as always!<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s amazing how they were together for 71 years and now they are together in Heaven. What an amazing love story that is,\u201d their family said after their passing.<\/p>\n
The Delaigle couple\u2019s story sounds like it\u2019s taken out of a book or a movie, especially since they both left this world such a short time apart. Sadly though, it can happen.<\/p>\n
You see, losing a spouse, especially at an old age, can cause health problems.

Still, this couple\u2019s story is not about death and grief, but about celebrating their love for each other, and their happy life together.<\/p>\n
