Joe died from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig\u2019s disease. Fans learned about his diagnosis in January 2024. Joe was married to Mary Ann, had two daughters, Jennifer and Sabrina, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He authored 11 books, including his upcoming memoir, *I See Myself*, releasing in November.<\/p>\n
Joe left the band after his diagnosis. The Oak Ridge Boys, including William Lee Golden, Richard Sterban, and Duane Allen, are known for hits like \u201cElvira\u201d and \u201cBobbie Sue.\u201d They won five Grammys and were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2015.
