Richard Gere has increasingly appeared in the media recently, not because of his new movies but because of news about his personal life.

Homer James Jigme Gere is “Pretty Woman” actor Richard Gere’s grown-up son from his marriage to actress Carey Lowell, and he looks just like his famous dad.

For decades, Richard Gere held the status as one of Hollywood’s most charismatic and coveted leading men; now, he is the doting father to a young man even more handsome than he was in his youth.

Richard’s first marriage was to top model Cindy Crawford, who revealed that one of the reasons for their 1995 breakup was that the actor didn’t want to have children. But five years later, the “Officer and a Gentleman” actor welcomed Homer in February 2000 with his then-girlfriend Carey Lowell.

Even though the two younger Gere boys are now toddlers, very little is known about them.
According to Richard, it was a decision that was made naturally. The actor named his son after his father, and when Homer was three, Richard and Lowell married. Being a father to Homer became the center of the actor’s life. He confessed that his son was “the joy of [his] life.” He added:

“[Homer] loves music, very fast runner, very smart. Very funny. Pretty quick, he learned irony, which is a wonderful quality for any human being.”

Throughout most of his life, Homer’s parents have kept him out of sight and protected him from public scrutiny. One of the few occasions in which fans had an opportunity to see him was when he joined his dad on the red carpet of the Giffoni Film Festival in 2014 in Italy.

Homer is a bright young man and has been a student at the prestigious Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, since 2019. He is studying at the University’s School of Public Health and working towards his Bachelor of Art, majoring in Cognitive Neuroscience and Visual Arts.

He is a research assistant at the University and will graduate sometime in 2024. Homer is not very active on social media, and his Facebook page seems to have fallen silent sometime around 2018.

Homer’s parents’ divorce was granted in 2016, but the proceeding and the custody battle over their child started long before. Lowell had filed for a divorce in 2012, but it would be four long years before they finally came to an agreement.

The couple was disputing custody of the then-15-year-old Homer and the “Chicago” actor’s considerable estate, valued at around $250 million. The two agreed to share custody of Homer, who is close to his mother and father.

A year after the divorce, Homer was spotted on a beach vacation in Italy with his dad and his future wife, Alejandra Silva. The three seemed relaxed and on the best of terms.

At 18, Homer went from being an only child to becoming a big brother after his father married a political activist, 33 years his junior. Homer’s first brother, Alexander, was born in February 2019.
