The months that followed were grueling, filled with paperwork, late-night shifts, school pickups, and bills that never seemed to stop. Months later, with groceries in hand and my mind elsewhere, I spotted my ex and Miranda across the street. They didn’t see me, but I saw the truth: the chaos I had escaped had simply found a new address. There was no bitterness in me—just quiet confirmation that leaving had been the right choice. As I walked back to my home, my kids laughing beside me, I realized I hadn’t merely survived.
