10th Teen Expected to Surrender in Florence County Homicide Investigation

Authorities in Florence County, South Carolina, have confirmed that a tenth teenager is expected to surrender in connection with the tragic death of 16-year-old Trey Dean Wright. The incident occurred on June 24 near Johnsonville, in a remote area that investigators now believe was the setting of a planned meeting involving several young people.

According to the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, evidence indicates that Wright was brought to the location by individuals he knew, including his girlfriend, Gianna Kistenmacher. Once there, a confrontation took place that ended in Wright’s death. Nineteen-year-old Devan Scott Raper has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime and remains in custody without bond. Kistenmacher faces charges as an accessory before the fact and is currently under home confinement.

Investigators report that several other teens, some identified as adults and others protected due to age, played roles in organizing the encounter. Officials stated that the group was aware Raper was armed yet continued with the plan. The ongoing investigation has led to multiple arrests, with authorities emphasizing their commitment to ensuring accountability for everyone involved.

The Florence County Sheriff’s Office described the case as a deeply tragic reminder of how quickly conflict and poor decisions can lead to devastating consequences. Officials extended condolences to Wright’s family and urged the community to continue supporting efforts to prevent youth violence. The investigation remains active as law enforcement works to bring full closure to the case.
