A tragic shooting at a late-night house party in Mountain View, just outside Hickory, North Carolina, has left one person dead and eleven others injured. The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to Walnut Acres Drive shortly after 12:45 a.m. on following multiple 911 calls about gunfire.

Roughly 100 people, including children, had gathered for a pool party when the violence broke out. Witnesses say shots were fired outside, spreading quickly across both the front and back yards of the home before reaching a neighboring property. The sudden chaos sent guests fleeing for safety as law enforcement rushed to secure the area.

Authorities confirmed that one victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Another individual remains in critical condition, while several others were taken to local hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to serious. Investigators revealed that multiple firearms were used during the incident, though no suspects have been named and no arrests have been made.

The State Bureau of Investigation is now assisting local detectives as they work to determine what triggered the violence at what had begun as a community celebration.
