The Life and Career of Oscar Winning Actress, Sally Field

Sally Field, a celebrated actress with Academy, Emmy, and Golden Globe Awards, is renowned for her roles in movies like “Forrest Gump,” “Brothers and Sisters,” “Lincoln,” and “Steel Magnolias.” She began her career in 1965, securing her first leading role in “Gidget.” In her 2018 memoir, “In Pieces,” Field candidly shares her personal struggles, including her experience of sexual abuse by her stepfather and her battles with depression and self-doubt.

Born on November 6, 1946, in Pasadena, California, Field’s mother was actress Margaret Field, while her father was a salesman named Richard Dryden Field. Her mother later married actor and stuntman Jock Mahoney. Field has a brother, Richard Field, and a half-sister, Princess O’Mahoney.

In her personal life, Field married Steven Craig in 1968, with whom she had two sons, and they divorced in 1975. She later wed Alan Greisman in 1984, and they had a son before divorcing in 1994. Her relationship with Burt Reynolds from 1976 to 1980 is detailed in her memoir.

Today, Field enjoys time with her grandkids, playing video games in a room where she keeps her Oscars and Emmys. With upcoming film projects like “Spoiler Alert,” releasing soon, and “80 for Brady” in 2023, Field shows no signs of retiring. Steven Spielberg, her friend and “Lincoln” director, commends her for breaking barriers, achieving great roles in film and television, and leaving an indelible mark in the industry.
