Five Friends Lost in Texas Crash: Remembering Their Lives and the Ongoing Investigation

Dallas Friends Lost in Tragic Birthday Trip Crash

On July 25, 2025, five lifelong friends from Dallas — Thalia Salinas, Brianna Valadez, Ruby Cruz,

Desiree Cervantez, and Jacqueline “Jackie” Velasco — died in a devastating car accident while traveling to celebrate a birthday.

The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that on U.S. Highway 281 in Burnet County, a truck hauling

a livestock trailer veered into oncoming traffic, hitting another vehicle before colliding with the women’s SUV.

Their vehicle overturned and caught fire. Others involved sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

A roadside memorial now marks the site, as the community grieves deeply. Thalia, the trip’s planner, was thoughtful

and organized; Brianna, set to start nursing school, was known for her warm hugs; Ruby was fiercely loyal; Desiree,

a recent graduate working at a law firm, was ambitious; and Jackie was remembered for her strength and gentle nature.

Families have shared emotional tributes online, thanking the community for its support. Fundraisers and memorials are underway to help with funeral expenses.

The investigation continues, with the truck driver’s identity undisclosed and no charges filed. While nothing

can replace their presence, the five friends’ love and memories endure in the hearts of all who knew them.
