Former President Jimmy Carter arrives in wheelchair at late wife Rosalynn’s funeral

Former President Jimmy Carter, 99, attended his late wife Rosalynn’s funeral, despite being in hospice care. He arrived at the event in a wheelchair, dressed in a sharp suit and covered with a blanket. Rosalynn, his wife of over 77 years, had been laid to rest at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum.

President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden also attended the funeral, along with former first ladies Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, Melania Trump, and Laura Bush.

Jimmy Carter’s son, Chip Carter, revealed that his father had been by Rosalynn’s side during her final moments, expressing his love and pride in her achievements. Rosalynn was a passionate advocate for mental health awareness and destigmatizing mental illness.

The day before her passing, Jimmy and Rosalynn had a private moment together, likely spent in prayer. Their hospice beds were placed foot-to-foot, allowing them to be close in their final hours.
