Tragedy Strikes Texas Family in July 4th Floods: Father Found Dead, Mother and Son Still Missing

What was meant to be a joyful family outing to a youth rodeo in Kerrville, Texas, turned into a devastating tragedy for the Wilson family. Jeff, Amber, and their 12-year-old son Shiloh were swept away by surging floodwaters along the Guadalupe River over the July 4th weekend. Their truck camper was eventually discovered, but only Jeff’s body has been recovered. As of now, Amber and Shiloh are still missing, and search and rescue operations continue.

Amber’s brother, John Dustin Ledford, has been providing updates on social media since the family went missing. After confirming Jeff’s passing, he requested continued prayers and urged the public not to spread misinformation, emphasizing that only his verified updates should be trusted. He also submitted a DNA sample to aid the search and shared that some of Shiloh’s personal items were found miles downstream, highlighting the force of the floodwaters.

Jeff Wilson was a highly respected teacher at Kingwood Park High School in the Humble Independent School District. News of his death sent ripples through the community, leading to a candlelight vigil held in his memory. Former students and friends, including Jason Wagner, spoke of Jeff’s lasting influence both inside the classroom and in their personal lives. Shiloh, too, was deeply loved, having touched many through school and family activities.
