She Abandoned Me, Then Tried to Use Me — I Chose My True Family Instead

When Diane was eight, her mother Erika left her with her aunt and uncle, saying it was just a business trip. Erika promised a Disneyland visit when she returned, but weeks turned into years. Heartbroken, Diane adjusted to life with her caring relatives, and their home soon became her true sanctuary.

Years later, Erika called from Milan, now married, asking Diane to visit. Encouraged by Aunt Karina, Diane flew to Italy hoping to reconnect. But Erika was cold and critical, judging Diane’s looks and making her change clothes. What should have been a reunion felt painful and uncomfortable.

At dinner, Erika put on a loving act for her wealthy husband, but Diane saw through it. Erika revealed they couldn’t have children and that Diane was expected to fill that role. Feeling betrayed and used, Diane knew she couldn’t stay in a home where she was just a substitute.

She asked for taxi money and went straight to the airport, returning home. Her aunt and uncle welcomed her with open arms. Diane shared the painful truth: Erika only wanted her as a stand-in daughter. Relieved, Diane embraced her real family and never looked back.
