Pay Me to Help: A Story of a Spoiled Son

Teenager Wesley grew tired of doing chores without getting paid. One evening, after complaining about dinner, he demanded his parents pay him for tasks like taking out the trash, washing dishes, and walking the dog. To his surprise, they agreed—but with a catch. They set up a chore chart, explaining he’d earn money only for the chores he completed.

But there was more: Wesley would now have to pay for his own meals, including his mother’s cooking, as well as clothes, rides, and laundry. At first, Wesley was excited, counting the cash he thought he’d make. Soon, reality hit hard as he realized every meal cost money, and he had to save for new football jerseys and other expenses.

As the days went by, Wesley’s savings quickly disappeared. Being “independent” was far harder and more expensive than he’d expected. Tired and frustrated, he finally grasped just how much his parents do for him daily without asking for payment.

Feeling humbled, Wesley apologized sincerely. His parents reminded him that family is about helping each other out of love, not for money. The story closes with Wesley happily sharing a homemade dinner, ready to pitch in without complaints.
