The entire nation has been shattered by the news of her passing

Kate Kaufling, a 20-year-old sophomore nursing student at the University of Kentucky, passed away on March 31, 2024, after a courageous battle

with osteosarcoma. Born in 2003, Kate was a vibrant member of the UK dance team and Tri Delta sorority, sharing a special bond with her twin

sister Abbey, who was also on the team. Despite her diagnosis in June 2023, Kate remained committed to her studies and passions. University

officials and teammates remember her as hardworking, kind, and full of light. Coach Dawn Walters said, “Her smile could light up a room.”

Kate is survived by her parents, Holly and Steve, and her sister Abbey. She touched many lives through

her grace and strength, and her memory will continue to inspire those who knew her
