A tragic medical jet crash in Northeast Philadelphia on January 31, 2025, claimed the lives of all six on board, including a child patient, her mother, and four crew members. The Learjet 55, operated by Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, crashed into a residential area just a minute after takeoff from Northeast Philadelphia Airport. Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker confirmed the devastating incident, which also injured several people on the ground, with six hospitalized, three later released. This marks the second fatal aviation accident in North America recently, following a January 29 collision between an American Airlines plane and an army helicopter over the Potomac River, which resulted in 67 fatalities. Recovery efforts continue, with 41 bodies retrieved so far. Investigations are ongoing using the aircrafts’ black boxes.
