A tragic midair collision between an American Airlines-owned PSA Airlines plane and a Black Hawk helicopter in Washington, DC, claimed 67 lives. Among the victims were 14-year-old figure skaters Everly and 11-year-old Alydia Livingston, and 26-year-old Asra Hussain, whose husband, Hamaad Raza, had texted her minutes before the disaster, praying she would be rescued from the sea. The crash occurred at 8:47 p.m. ET on January 29 when the commercial jet and military helicopter collided during a training flight. Flight 5342, en route from Wichita, Kansas, to Ronald Reagan National Airport, had 60 passengers and four crew members on board. Both aircraft fell into the Potomac River. The identities of 30 victims have been confirmed, with many mourning the devastating loss.
