Man who witnessed American Airlines flight ‘splitting in half’ describes moment he saw ‘white flare’ during collision

On January 29, 2025, a fatal crash occurred near Washington, DC, when an American Airlines passenger jet (AA 5432) collided with a Black Hawk Sikorsky H-60 helicopter while the plane was preparing to land at Reagan National Airport. The incident took place at approximately 9 PM, with the jet carrying 60 passengers and 4 crew members and the helicopter having 3 people onboard. Both aircraft plunged into the Potomac River.
