He suffered a huge loss. I don’t care what you think about Blake Shelton, he didn’t deserve this

After his friend Joe Bonsall died, Blake Shelton wrote a touching tribute. Joe was a member of The Oak Ridge Boys from 1973 to 2024. Blake shared a picture of himself singing with the band and wrote on Instagram, “I’m heartbroken to hear of my friend Joe Bonsall’s death. I’ve NEVER seen Joe when he wasn’t smiling and completely full of life. He loved singing more than anyone I’ve ever met.” Blake prayed for Joe’s family and bandmates, adding, “Today we all lost someone important.”

Joe died from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Fans learned about his diagnosis in January 2024. Joe was married to Mary Ann, had two daughters, Jennifer and Sabrina, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He authored 11 books, including his upcoming memoir, *I See Myself*, releasing in November.

Joe left the band after his diagnosis. The Oak Ridge Boys, including William Lee Golden, Richard Sterban, and Duane Allen, are known for hits like “Elvira” and “Bobbie Sue.” They won five Grammys and were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2015. The Oak Ridge Boys’ American Made: The Farewell Tour runs until December 8.
